“You are the best of Gods, O Lord of Bhaga, O Bhaga!
Such you they thus discovered as Phalgunī, because of [Blissful] Wealth of yours;
Provide for us the Power of Kshatra, Immortal and supremely courageous,
Bring Knowledge full of light and Swiftness here.
For Bhaga is indeed the Giver – Bhaga is the Bestower!
[It is] Bhaga [who] has entered the Goddesses Phalgunī!
May we go to the Origin of Bhaga,
where we shall partake of the enjoyment with the Gods.”

-Nakṣatra Sukta Translation by Vladimir Yatsenko

Tonights New Moon occurs in the lunar stars of Pūrva Phalgunī, a twin set of stars in the latter half of leo that in the rgveda represents the grand celebration and marriage of the Suns daughter Sūrya to Soma (the Moon).

The deity for this star is Bhaga, who is the bestower of bliss and wealth, he is always invoked with Aryaman the deity for Uttara Phalguni, its twin star. Aryaman is the lord of patronage, nobility and the god of contracts and unions, since marriage is a contractual agreement. The hymns associated with this star ask that this divine union of the Sun and Moon be showered with things like eternal love, devotion and wealth. To bring to bear the fullest expression of a blissful union.

The lord of delight is Bhaga, manifested in the external world, like the fruit that falls from the tree and brings carnivals to the tastebuds. What brings you joy? This New Moon asks us to follow that…

Pūrva Phalgunī is a twin set of Nakṣatras stars spanning from 13°20 of Leo to 10° of Virgo. It forms a square between these two solar constellations. The four stars marking the square becomes the marker stars respectively. The yogatārā for Pūrva Phalgunī is Zosma, and Chort located at 17° and 19° of Leo. Tonights New Moon falls at 16° right over Zosma, the bright star at the beginning of the Tail of the lion.

The rectangular shape of the two asterisms becomes the symbol for Pūrva and Uttara Phalgunī which is a marriage bed, or hammock. Another symbol for conjugal bliss.

And nothing yet, has had the power to fill me with such deep faith in the unknown then observing the daily revolutions of the Sun, Moon, and Stars. The masters of universal order always at play. How could anyone ever tire of this grand mirror of divinity?

These little Suns beam through us too, as the all knowing intuition. How can I know when it is truly intuition, and not confuse it for the ever rising waves of thoughts and their accompanying fears or desires? As Carolyn Myss said, “Intuition makes you feel uncomfortable, fantasy doesn’t.”

The more I learn how to listen to my intuition the more I learn to trust myself. It is the Sun of my life, like this little star on its way to the final destination, merging with you, the eternal Big Sun. To turn away from this little voice is to turn away from the communication of spirit, which always knows whats best for you. Its messages are woven into the tapestry of the universe speaking to you, and through you at all times.

Listen and learn to live with no doubt she said. Okay maybe there comes a hiccup, that wasn’t it, but now I know what Is it. Keep going, keep listening…

History has come to pass to put this moment on the map. If every moment, led to this moment, how could any of it be a mistake? And to the last days of summer I say, warm eternal Sun, please stay with me, forever and ever.
